🎮 DevBlog Week 8 (26/03/2025) –Portals and ring boosters

This week I have added portals using Unity Visual effect, just like the Lumin orb. The portal is special, and it will teleport the player into a new area that is unreachable, doing this wasn't too hard but the coding part was very challenging, I had to create a new state for the player state machine and figure out how to make the player able to teleport to one place to another


At the end of portal development, I was able to fully implement it, and it works as expected. I'm not sure, but I think ill make the portal as a checkpoint for levels. I will see what I can do about it.



Booster rings

For the glide mechanic of the game, I felt that it was too slow, so I made a booster ring so when ever the player goes through them, it will give them a slight boost. this method didn't take too long to code and it works as aexpected

For the VFX I just copied the player's ecolocation vfx, changed the colours and set the loop time to always play on awake, so when ever the game starts the ring will always be on.

NPC House

For the Npc House, i used maya to model it, witch took a few hours to get an idea of it, and in the en,d i got this result



At this point of development i had to release my beta of the game, for now the game looks good but it needs more stuff such as more quest, make enemies more aggressive and add new enemies, I planned to make a ranged ai but I wont have much time to implement that into my game as I only have one more month of development before releasing the game.

My plan for this week is to add more quest and implement new areas for the player to discover and new cave enemies. This shouldn't take long
